Four cheetahs from South Africa arrived in Bengaluru early Saturday, marking a fresh push for wildlife conservation in Karnataka. The animals landed at Kempegowda International Airport shortly after midnight and were received by Forest, Ecology, and Environment Minister Eshwar B Khandre.

Officials said the transfer was carried out under strict supervision, with veterinary teams ensuring the animals’ safety during transit. The cheetahs have been moved to Bannerghatta Biological Park, where they will undergo a mandatory 30-day quarantine. During this period, experts will monitor their health, diet, and adaptation to local climatic conditions. Authorities have prioritised preventing infections and minimising stress as the animals acclimatise to their new environment.
