Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a blistering attack on the Congress-led Opposition, accusing it of giving a “clean chit” to Pakistan over the Pahalgam terror attack and mocking the party for failing to support India’s war on terror.

Dismissing Congress’s claims of foreign policy failure following Operation Sindoor, PM Modi told the Parliament that not a single major country opposed India's military response to Pakistan.

“Out of 193 countries, only three supported Pakistan -- either through dialogue or by other means. All nations and organisations, including BRICS, stood by India’s military strikes and our fight against terror,” said the Prime Minister.

Taking a jibe at the Congress, PM Modi remarked, “We received the support of our citizens and backing from the international community, but unfortunately, the armed forces did not receive support from the Congress party.”

PM Modi went on to accuse the grand old party of celebrating the Pahalgam terror attack, hoping it would provide ammunition to attack the government and damage his image.

“They tried to score political points at the cost of innocent lives. Their actions dampened the morale of our armed forces and undermined their courage,” he added.

The Prime Minister also warned that information warfare and digital narratives now play a central role in modern conflict, urging caution in using technology to distort facts and mislead the public on matters of national importance.

Doubling down on his criticism, PM Modi accused the Congress of being ideologically aligned with Pakistan.

“Today, the Congress party lacks issues of its own and is forced to borrow its agenda from external sources.”

He criticised Congress leaders for repeatedly demanding proof of India’s surgical strikes, only to later claim that similar operations were carried out during their tenure in power.

“It’s a relief they didn’t try to take credit for Operation Sindoor because such air strikes never happened during their time,” he said, in a pointed rebuke to the Opposition.

PM Modi asserted that the Congress party has a long-standing habit of questioning and criticising the armed forces, even at the cost of national security.

“There’s a visible negativity towards our armed forces. It’s an old Congress habit to find fault in every action they take,” PM Modi said.
