Prisoner commits suicide in district jail

A 65-year-old prisoner lodged in the district jail here allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself from the ceiling of the toilet inside the barrack, police sources said today.

The police said that Das was under depression due to prolonged illness and the murder case against him. The body of Das was recovered during routine inspection by jail staff, they said.u00a0
