Bangalore-based Parachute XVI promises a headbanging high today

The threeu00a0 members of Parachute XVI come from starkly different backgrounds literally, philosophically and musically. How did they, then, get together? "Actually, it happened over beer," came the answer. Ananth Menon (guitarist and vocalist), Ganesh Krishnaswamy's (base player) and Gurudarshan Somayaji (drummer) clubbed their progressive tastes about a year ago, and since then, the South's been rocking to their tunes.

Their score is influenced by the electric blues from Chicago in the Fifties and Sixties, and bands likeu00a0 Traffic, Cream, Allman Brothers, Peter Frampton, Porcupine Tree, Pure Reason Revolution, Riverside, Muddy Waters, Beatles, Led Zeppelin, AC/DC, Black Sabbath, Soundgarden and Alice In Chains."

"We aim to serve the audience a cook-out pack that is a mu00e9lange of the earthly glory of the blues and mind-bending psychedelic and progressive rock," says Gurudarshan, who is originally from Delhi.
