A video clip of two DMK men removing and throwing away two flex boards embossed with the name and picture of &lsquo;Amma&rsquo; from a state-run canteen in Chennai went viral on Tuesday and they were expelled from the party.
The party filed a police complaint against them and the duo was arrested, DMK leader and former Mayor of Chennai, Ma Subramanian told reporters.
&lsquo;Amma&rsquo; is a popular moniker of late chief minister and AIADMK supremo J Jayalalithaa. The low-cost &lsquo;Amma Canteens&rsquo; are run by civic bodies in Tamil Nadu.
&ldquo;Today we got a message, Amma canteen was vandalised in Chennai. We got to know that 2 people were involved in this. These two are just ordinary DMK cadres, they don&rsquo;t hold a post in DMK. We ourselves gave a complaint about these two and they were arrested,&rdquo; Subramanian said.
