Zia-Ur-Rehman</td></tr></tbody></table>Taking a cue from Saquib Nisar, a fellow accused who was allowed by the Delhi High Court to write his third semester MBA exams, Rehman had approached the executive council of the university on September 22, 2008. Defending the university's action Vice-Chancellor Prof Mushirul Hasan said: "As per the law it was not possible for us to give him (Zia-ur-Rehman) the permission." The university had earlier announced to give legal aid to Zia and other students, who are currently behind the bars for their suspected role in terror activities. Zia has already missed two of his exams thatu00a0 started on April 16.u00a0 Even if the university reconsiders his plea it will take at least one more week for the full legal processing of the request, by which time exams would be over. Zia has already been suspended by the university and a campus ban was also imposed on him in September 2008. A fact, which the litigant claims, was not brought to his knowledge. Meanwhile, Zia's family are still hopeful of getting the permission. Counsel for Zia M S Khan has filed an appeal before the executive council of the Jamia University to review the ban. Khan accused the University of "double talk" and said that the administration was looking to score points at the cost of Zia's future.
