Tripura has launched a project to convert around 5000 electricity-powered drinking water pumps into solar-powered systems to reduce the state&rsquo;s power bill, officials said on Wednesday.&nbsp;
Around Rs 125 crore is spent annually on electricity to operate nearly 10,000 pumps across the state. Conversion of 2300 small-bore pumps into<a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-news/article/maharashtra-plans-solar-powered-onion-processing-units-in-state-to-support-farmers-stablise-prices-23624941" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener"> solar-powered units, </a>at an cost of Rs 60 crore, has begun.
