After announcing introduction of Marathi foundation course at Urdu medium schools from class VIII to class X, the state minorities affairs minister Eknath Khadse today said the schools which don't teach the language would be derecognised.
"I have specific information that there are some Urdu medium schools which do not teach Marathi. This cannot be allowed. If the language, which is our mother-tongue, is not taught in schools, children studying in such schools would never be able to get good marks in competitive exams like MPSC and UPSC as well as in medical and engineering courses," Khadse told PTI.
