A tragic building collapse in Delhi's Chawri Bazaar area has claimed two lives and left one person injured, triggering a massive rescue operation. The incident took place in Gali Sitara, Sheesh Mahal, near Chawri Bazaar Metro Station, where a portion of an under-construction building suddenly collapsed. Delhi Fire Services rushed to the spot with six fire tenders, while NDRF teams joined the operation to search through the debris. Rescuers recovered a body from the rubble as police confirmed two deaths and one injury. Fears of additional people being trapped later eased following the search operation. Meanwhile, the incident has sparked a political confrontation, with the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) criticising the Delhi government through social media posts and raising questions over alleged corruption, construction lapses and building safety audits. Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the collapse, including possible construction violations and safety lapses.
