Owing to security concerns, the Congress on Friday stopped the Bharat Jodo Yatra in Kashmir. Highlighting the issue, Rahul Gandhi addressed a press conference and said, "Police arrangement completely collapsed and cops who were supposed to manage the crowd were nowhere to be seen. My security people were very uncomfortable with me walking further on yatra so I had to cancel my yatra. Other yatris did the walk," Rahul Gandhi, in Anantnag.
The full dress rehearsal of the Republic Day Parade was held at Kartavya Path in Delhi, in which personnel from the Army, Air Force, Navy and Paramilitary forces participated on Monday. Twenty-three tableaux from 17 states and various departments of the government took part in the rehearsal. The lowering of the flags ceremony at the Attari–Wagah border is a daily military practice. The security forces of India and Pakistan have jointly followed this ceremony since 1959. The drill is characterized by elaborate and rapid dance-like manoeuvres and raising legs as high as possible. It is both a symbol of the two countries’ rivalry and a display of brotherhood and cooperation between the two nations. One can sense patriotism running high at both sides of the border. People chant 'Jai Hind', Bharat Mata Ki Jai and Vande Mataram. Similar parades are organised at the Mahavir/Sadqi border near Fazilka, and the Hussainiwala/Ganda Singh Wala border near Firozpur.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Mumbai today and was received at the airport by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Governor Bhagat Singh Koshiyari. His visit also included the initiation of redevelopment of csmt and transferring money directly to 1 lakh plus beneficiaries under the PM Svanidhi Fund.
