62 killed in spate of Baghdad explosions

Five powerful car bombs rocked Baghdad on Tuesday, killing at least 62 people, many of them students, wounding 105 and shattering a month of calm in the capital ahead of a general election.

Five powerful car bombs rocked Baghdad on Tuesday, killing at least 62 people, many of them students, wounding 105 and shattering a month of calm in the capital ahead of a general election.

Two car bombs exploded near the labour and interior ministries and a suicide attacker driving a car struck a police patrol in Dora, in southern Baghdad, causing 15 of the deaths, an interior ministry official said.
