London: A 7.1- magnitude earthquake hit the southern part of the Indian Ocean on Saturday, but there have been no damages or any indications of a deadly tsunami.

The epicentre of the quake was at the Southeast Indian ridge, which is located along the sea floor of the southern Indian Ocean.
