The accident was reported to authorities at around 7:15 am near a petrol pump beside Kapurbawdi Bridge on the Ghodbunder-to-Thane road in Thane (West)

According to officials, a Honda Activa (registration number MH 02 HA 6899), owned and ridden by Manu Chauhan, caught fire while travelling from Waghbil towards Vijay Garden. The cause of the fire was not immediately known
