TMC MP Mahua Moitra publicly praised BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari recently and recalled the support he gave her during the early years of her political career. In a recent interview, Moitra revealed that Adhikari stood by her during difficult moments, including when she was denied a Lok Sabha ticket. She also recalled that Suvendu was among the first senior leaders to campaign for her during her Assembly election journey. The remarks have drawn attention because Adhikari was once one of the most influential leaders in the Trinamool Congress before leaving the party in 2020 and joining the BJP. Today, he is one of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's strongest political opponents.

The Trinamool Congress has reconstituted its national working committee amid an escalating internal rebellion that is shaking the party at both the Assembly and Parliament levels. The move is being seen as Mamata Banerjee's biggest attempt yet to reassert control over the party as dissident leaders challenge her authority and attempt to project themselves as the "real" TMC. The rebel camp has even announced a parallel leadership structure and targeted senior party figures, including Abhishek Banerjee.
