The long-awaited Mumbai-Pune link will finally be inaugurated shortly on the occasion of Maharashtra Day. The link comprises two tunnels, one of which is among the world’s widest. There are also two cable-stayed bridges. The total distance from Mumbai to Pune will now be 6 km less and the travel time reduced by 20-25 minutes. What’s more, the route will bypass the steep, accident-prone, Khandala-Lonavala ghats. PICS/MSRDC
