Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Mumbai today and was received at the airport by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Governor Bhagat Singh Koshiyari. PM Modi, along with Union ministers Piyush Goyal, Ramdas Athavale and Bhagwat Karad reached BKC’s MMRDA ground to address a public rally and inaugurate several development projects, including the metro services, the Mumbai One App and NMMC Card. He also inaugurated 20 Babasaheb Apla davakhanas and initiated the redevelopment of municipal hospitals at Oshiwara, Goregaon, Bhandup. PM also started seven waste water treatment facilities with 2464 capacity mld, and boosted concretisation of road works worth rs 6079 crores. His visit also included the initiation of redevelopment of csmt and transferring money directly to 1 lakh plus beneficiaries under the PM Svanidhi Fund.

The Metro line 3, will be a 33.5 km underground route which will connect south Mumbai with the western suburbs and is expected to reduce the burden on the suburban locals.Length of the corridor is marked with 27 key stations out of which 26 will be underground.The Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation Limited intends to complete the work and begin operations between Aarey and Bandra Kurla Complex for the phase I corridor by June 2023. The remaining will be completed after that.

After this, the first phase will start in October and both the lines will be completely operational by January 2022, according to officials. On May 31, the metro reached Akurli Metro Station in Kandivli for the inauguration of the trial run program. The six-coach rake is manufactured by Bharat Earth Movers Limited in Bangalore.
