As the recently inaugurated Mumbai Metro -- lines 2A and 7 -- began operations, mid-day took to the roads along the metro route to witness the situation. During a test drive, mid-day found that while there was reduced traffic movement on Link Road below Metro 2A, the situation did not change much on the Western Express Highway (WEH) along Metro line 7. Ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's arrival in Mumbai, Maharashtra deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis on Thursday shared the first looks of the new Mumbai Metro Rail Lines. Mumbai Metro Rail Lines 2A and 7, worth around Rs 12,600 crore will be flagged off by PM Modi. The metro line 2A connecting Dahisar E and DN Nagar (yellow line) is around 18.6 km long, while metro line 7 connecting Andheri E - Dahisar E (red line) is around 16.5 km long. Ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Mumbai, Mumbai Police have beefed up the security around the Bandra Kurla Complex where the premier is scheduled to hold a public meeting.
