An RPF constable allegedly opened fire inside moving Jaipur Express train after it crossed Palghar Station on July 31. An RPF ASI and three other passengers were shot dead and the accused jumped from the train after committing the crime. The accused RPF constable has been arrested by the police. The firing incident happened inside the Jaipur Express Train (12956). The reason for the firing is yet to be ascertained and an investigation into the matter is underway.

Mumbai Rains: IMD issues orange alert for Mumbai, Thane, Palghar, Raigad

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Wednesday issued an orange alert for heavy rains in Mumbai, Thane, Palghar, Raigad, Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg. While a yellow alert has been issued for Mumbai on June 29 and 30. As per the Regional Meteorological Centre, the island city, eastern and western suburbs received 12.44 mm, 42.41 mm and 40.46 mm of rainfall respectively between 8 am to 12 noon on Wednesday. In the last 24 hours, there were 26 incidents of tree fall, 15 short-circuits, and five incidents of collapse/partial collapse of houses in Mumbai, as per the civic body. There was no report of any major water-logging in low-lying areas, officials of the BMC informed. Suburban trains on the Central Railway and Western Railway routes were running normally, though they were delayed by a few minutes, informed railway officials. Andheri subway was flooded because of heavy downpour but traffic was running smoothly soon and there was no major waterlogging. IMD scientist Soma Sen said, "The monsoon is active currently with its rapid advancement in the last 4-5 days. Leaving some parts of northwest India, the monsoon has impacted almost the entire country. Entire Gujarat and south-east Rajasthan have been covered by the monsoon. In the next two days, it is expected that south Punjab, Haryana and the remaining parts of Rajasthan will be covered."

A teenager, driving a car without license, dragged an on-duty traffic constable on his car's bonnet for about 1.5 kilometres after the constable stopped him for jumping a traffic signal. The incident took place at Vasai in Palghar district of Maharashtra on Sunday evening. The accused has been arrested and booked under various charges including attempt to murder and motor vehicle act. The traffic constable has sustained injuries in the incident.

In an update on the TV-actress Tunisha Sharma's case, the accused Sheezan Khan, who purportedly was Tunisha’s boyfriend, has been sent to a fourteen days Judicial Custody by the Vasai Court on December 31. Tunisha, 20, died on December 24 on the sets of a teleserial being shot at a location in Vasai, and a day later, her co-star Sheezan was arrested after her mother accused him of cheating, two-timing, betrayal, 'using' her for 3-4 months and other things in a video-statement. According to the police, Tunisha had lunch with Khan at the studio and later locked herself in the make-up room. The crew members knocked on the door of the make-up room but she didn’t open the door. Crew members then broke open the door and found her hanging from the ceiling.

Shraddha’s Father Meets New Vasai Virar Police Commissioner

Vikas Walkar, father of Shraddha Walkar - who was brutally killed by her live-in partner Aftab Poonawala in Delhi, met the newly-appointed commissioner of Mira Bhayandar Vasai Virar (MBVV) police Madhukar Pandey on Friday. The meeting went on for around 40 minutes at the Police Commissioner's office in Mira Road. “I met the police commissioner and have requested him to conduct a thorough investigation into the November 2020 complaint letter of my daughter Shraddha who submitted it before Tulinj police station. Had the police acted swiftly on my daughter’s written complaint against Poonawala, my daughter would have been alive,” Walkar told media persons.  “The commissioner has promised all help and I am thankful to him,” he added. Speaking about the DNA report, Walkar said, “It is a crucial piece of evidence in the case”.  BJP leader Kirit Saumya, while giving information to the media in this matter, said that he had a 40-minute conversation with Commissioner Madhukar Pandey, and Madhukar Pandey has assured him that he will conduct a fair investigation into the matter as soon as possible. He said that the police will also investigate officers and employees who have been negligent in this matter, along with this, and will meet the top officials of Delhi Police.
