A major breakthrough in U.S.-South Korea trade relations has been announced following intense discussions at the APEC Summit in San Francisco. Both sides reached an understanding to slash U.S. auto tariffs on South Korean imports from 25% to 15%, marking a significant shift in Washington’s trade policy. On December 29, a plane from Bangkok crashed at Muan International Airport, reportedly killing at least 47 people. The flight, Jeju Air flight 7C2216, was carrying over 180 passengers when it crashed while landing early in the morning. The plane skidded off the runway and hit a wall, causing a huge fireball to rise into the air. According to Muan fire officials, at least 33 bodies had been recovered, and rescue operations were still ongoing at the time of reporting. The transport ministry has not yet confirmed the exact number of casualties. More information and updates about the accident are still expected.

India’s External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar on 5th of March revealed how he left his “well-paying corporate job” to join Politics. He recalls that Prime Minister Narendra Modi asked him to join the government. “Personally it was a surprise, I never even thought about it, but, one of the reasons I never thought about it was that nobody in my family even remotely thought about it,” said EAM Jaishankar while interacting with Indian community in Seoul. New Zealand was one of the first countries to welcome the New Year and celebrated the occasion with great fervor. While USA is yet to welcome the New Year, visitors to Times Square got a small preview of New York City’s famed New Year’s Eve party on 29th December Friday, as the event’s organisers heaved handfuls of coloured paper skyward in a promotional event to test their confetti.
