The Indian Army, Indian Navy and Air Force performed a firepower demonstration in Pokhran, Rajasthan. The war exercise displayed the firepower capability of indigenous weapons and the operational readiness of all three services of the Defence forces. The Bharat Shakti exercise, in line with the Aatmanirbharata initiative, showcased India's defence prowess through realistic multi-domain operations. There has been a significant upgrade in Mumbai’s infrastructure in the recent times and a brand new RO-RO ferry survive is the latest addition. A new Vasai-Bhayandar Ro-Ro ferry service will be running on a regular basis from 21st February between Vasai and Bhayandar that is going to cut down the commute time between the two destinations to 15 minutes. This is the second RoRo service in the MMR. The first one operates on the Ferry Wharf and Mandwa route. The newly-inaugurated service will ply eight times a day. The vessel can carry 100 passengers and 33 four-wheelers in one go. Here’s everything you need to know about the service.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, President of Sri Lanka Ranil Wickremesinghe, and Prime Minister of Mauritius Pravind Jugnauth on February 12 witnessed the launch of Unified Payment Interface (UPI) services in Sri Lanka and Mauritius, and also RuPay card services in Mauritius, via video conferencing. The launch will enable the availability of UPI settlement services for Indian nationals travelling to Sri Lanka and Mauritius as well as for Mauritian nationals travelling to India. The extension of RuPay card services in Mauritius will enable Mauritian banks to issue cards based on the RuPay mechanism in Mauritius and facilitate usage of RuPay Card for settlements both in India and Mauritius.

Reliance Jio, on Monday, announced the launch of its new AirFiber services. With this, the company plans to provide 1,50,000 connections per day. The company claims to expand Jio's network to over 200 million users. The company claims that it has around 10 million JioFiber customers and the network is spread across 1.5 million kms. Former PM Manmohan Singh came to the Parliament to participate in the crucial Rajya Sabha session on August 07. The Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi (Amendment) Bill, 2023 was being discussed. 90-year-old former PM Manmohan Singh was seen sitting on a wheelchair in the Parliament. The Congress party has issued a three-line whip for its MPs, urging them to be present in the Rajya Sabha. Home Minister Amit Shah moved the GNCT of Delhi (Amendment) Bill, 2023, for passage in the House. The Bill was passed after a division in which 131 MPs voted in favour of the legislation and 102 against it. The Opposition members moved a resolution disapproving the ordinance brought by the government in May this year. The bill empowers the Central Government to make rules in connection with the affairs of the Government of the NCT of Delhi. Amit Shah also lashed out at Congress, reminding that the government was not making amendments to impose “Emergency”.

Five Members of Parliament (MPs) from the Rajya Sabha have lodged complaints about their alleged unauthorised inclusion in a proposed Select Committee on the Delhi Services Bill by Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP Raghav Chadha. This move has triggered a call for a Privilege Motion against Chadha, stirring debates and discussions within the parliamentary framework. Home Minister Amit Shah has also accused Chadha of fraudulent activity. He called for an investigation by the parliament's Privilege Committee into this matter. The proposal for the creation of the Select Committee itself was made by Chadha, with the intention of subjecting the Delhi Services Bill to thorough scrutiny. In response to the allegations, Chadha maintained his readiness to address the situation. Chadha's effort to send the bill to a select committee was eventually defeated by a voice vote.
