A former Indian cricket board chief with deep knowledge of legal issues was the trigger behind the Friday resignations of BCCI secretary Indore-based Sanjay Jagdale and treasurer Ajay Shirke from Pune. <img alt="Ajay Shirke and Sanjay Jagdale" src="http://images.mid-day.com/2013/jun/Ajay-Sanjay.jpg" style="width: 500px; height: 347px;" /> Ajay Shirke and Sanjay Jagdale It is learnt that the former boss had a teleconference with key Board members and advised them to resign so that their actions could force the retirement of president N Srinivasan who has refused to leave his chair. &ldquo;I have done nothing wrong,&rdquo; he has said ad nauseum. While it is to be seen whether Srinivasan will budge, the resignations of more key officials are expected to take place today.u00a0The former Board chief stressed to his erstwhile colleagues that when he was in charge and worked with fellow administrators, the Board was bereft of major controversies and even if there was the odd one, it was dealt with sternly. A couple of days ago, Sharad Pawar, who led the Board before Nagpur-based Shashank Manohar, stressed at the Mumbai Cricket Association annual prize distribution function on the Wankhede Stadium turf: &ldquo;Today, every cricketer is disturbed and worried. I don&rsquo;t want to go into details. All of you have seen the Indian cricket team winning the World Cup in 2011 when Shashank Manohar was heading the BCCI at this venue. &ldquo;And when I was looking after BCCI, India won the Twenty20 World Cup in Johannesburg, South Africa. What has happened currently affects the spirit of cricketers, but I am sure we can come out of this and our players will once again bring glory to Indian cricket.&rdquo; Reliable sources told MiD DAY that an influential politician and Board member, while in Kolkata on Sunday, urged Srinivasan to quit for a month and let a senior vice-president take over but he reiterated that he had not done anything wrong to step down.
