Karachi: Banned Pakistan leg-spinner Danish Kaneria will have to wait for a week to know whether he can revive his cricketing career again or will have to serve out the life ban imposed on him for his involvement in spot-fixing.

Kaneria's appeal against the life ban imposed on him by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) in 2012 was heard in a commercial court of the Queens bench in London today with the judge reserving his judgment for next week.

"Kaneria was represented by QC Tim Maloney at the hearing today but we will only know the decision next week," his brother Vicky told PTI.

The Pakistani leg-spinner had to submit a security of around 21,000 pounds in the commercial court on the insistence of the legal team for the ECB to get his appeal heard which is the final chance for Kaneria to restore his career.

"We know just how important this hearing is and we are keeping our fingers crossed for the decision," he said.

Kaneria was banned for life by the ECB in 2012 after being found guilty of encouraging and coaxing a teammate in the English country side, Essex to indulge in spot-fixing.

The leg-spinner, who has taken 261 Test wickets, however has denied the charges. He filed an appeal against the ban and costs imposed on him last year but the appeal tribunal of the ECB dismissed it after which he approached the commercial court.
