Sri Lanka captain Charith Asalanka said it was a tough game for his side after going down to Pakistan by five wickets in an Asia Cup Super 4s match here on Tuesday.

Pakistan chased a modest target of 134 with two overs to spare to record their first win of this round, which was set up by Shaheen Afridi (3-28) and Hussain Talat (2-18 and 32 not out).

While Shaheen and Talat shared five wickets between them, Abrar chipped in with a miserly spell of 4-0-8-1 to help Pakistan squeeze Sri Lanka’s batters in the first half.

“If you lose five wickets before the 10th over [58-5 in 7.3 overs], it will be hard. The surface was good. They bowled and fielded really well in the first eight to nine overs. We just scored 133. But we didn’t give up and fought really hard. [Wanindu] Hasaranga [2-27] is a superstar in white-ball cricket,” Asalanka said.
