In the Asia Cup 2025 match against Pakistan, Team India secured a dominating victory by seven wickets at the Dubai International Stadium.

Speaking on the victory, India head coach Gautam Gambhir said that it is his side's way of showing solidarity to the families of victims in the Pahalgam terror attack.

"Good win, there's a lot of cricket left. More importantly, as a team we wanted to show our solidarity towards the victims, all the families and what they've gone through in the Pahalgam attack," he said.

He also expressed gratitude to the Indian armed forces for achieving success in "Operation Sindoor" and is also hopeful of clinching the title of the ongoing continental tournament.

"We also want to thank the armed forces for their success in Operation Sindoor. I am sure we will try and make the country proud and make them happy," added Gambhir.

In the match, Pakistan's innings ended with a score of 127 runs for the loss of seven wickets in 20 overs. Kuldeep Yadav claimed a three-wicket haul by conceding just 18 runs in his spell of four overs.

Reflecting on the performance, Gambhir said, "You couldn't ask for a better performance, especially the way the bowlers bowled. If you are restricting the opponents to 127, the way all three spinners and Bumrah performed, then obviously you will back the batting lineup to chase it down".

"The way we started was also important, and the players are doing the right things day in and day out," he added.

When asked if he is stressed about his coaching job with the Indian team, the 43-year-old former cricketer replied by saying, "I've had my good days, I've had my bad days as well, that's what coaching is about. The important thing is if you can work honestly in the dressing room, bring honest people, it is very important".

He then said that currently, there is a transition phase going on with Team India, and the Indian head coach is confident of yielding results in the future.

"You can't compare apples to oranges. Some people may not see the transition clearly, but we've kept backing the players, the support staff has kept backing them, and we'll keep getting results in the future as well," signed off the veteran of 147 ODI matches.
