After the Asia Cup 2025 triumph, Team India, led by Suryakumar Yadav, refused to accept the trophy from the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) and Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief Mohsin Naqvi.
Following the denial, Naqvi was seen walking away with the trophy. Later, several media reports claimed that he apologised to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) officials for his actions.
Reacting to the media reports, he took to his official social media handle by saying that he has not apologised to the BCCI officials.
"As ACC President, I was ready to hand over the trophy that very day and I am still ready now. If they truly want it, they are welcome to come to the ACC office and collect it from me," he wrote on his official social media handle.
"Let me make it absolutely clear: I have done nothing wrong and I have never apologised to the BCCI nor will I ever do so," he added.
Naqvi is also an interim minister of Pakistan.
Ashish Shelar and Rajeev Shukla had represented the BCCI in the ACC AGM, where they raised a strong objection over the trophy not being duly handed over to the Suryakumar Yadav-led side, which beat Pakistan in the Asia Cup 2025 final.
Naqvi told BCCI officials that he was ready to hand over the showpiece to the "Men in Blue". However, no decision on that issue was taken in the AGM, upsetting the BCCI top brass further.
The BCCI will take the matter to the ICC, which will have its meeting in November.
Tilak Varma was the architect of India's innings in the final. Facing 53 balls, the left-hander played an unbeaten knock of 69 runs, including three boundaries and four maximums. Along with him, Shivam Dube, too, played a crucial role. He delivered a knock of 33 runs after facing 22 balls, which included two boundaries and the same number of maximums.
The "Men in Blue" secured a dominating win against Pakistan by five wickets at the Dubai International Stadium. The loss in the final also marked Pakistan's third defeat in the same event against India.
