Suryakumar Yadav had an honest talk with the Oman national team players after India beat them in the final group match of the Asia Cup 2025, and encouraged them to reach greater heights by sharing valuable advice and experiences.

Oman, who were playing India for the first time in any format, pushed the World No. 1 T20I side hard in Abu Dhabi before eventually going down by 21 runs.

The BCCI shared a video from after Friday’s game, where squad members of Oman, along with support staff, gathered around Suryakumar as he shared insights into a player’s mentality when approaching a game. “In the last press conference, I mentioned some things that are bigger than just how you play. This is what always makes the game bigger. Keep this in mind. After stepping off the ground, you should feel like this. You should feel sleepy today, knowing ‘we gave our best.’ Whether you win or lose, it will be decided by your attitude and culture. You all gave your best, and the result is in front of you,” he said.

Meanwhile, Oman captain Jatinder Singh has appealed to India and other major cricketing nations to extend greater support to Associate sides.  “Well, I think if we can get India coming forward, you know, letting us make their home our home… If we can train there, go to the NCAs, train our skill, mental aspects, the fitness part, and play a lot of T20s with the club teams and Ranji teams, I think that will definitely help us and that will fill the gap,” Jatinder said after the match.
