USA cricketer and former India U-19 World Cup-winning captain Unmukt Chand shared his excitement ahead of the much-anticipated Asia Cup 2025 clash between arch-rivals India and Pakistan.
“I really wish that Team India beats Pakistan. I am looking forward to this evening, cheering for India,” said Chand.
The blockbuster encounter is set to take place on September 14 at the Dubai International Stadium, with both teams coming into the match high on confidence after winning their respective opening games in the tournament.
India, the defending champions, kicked off their Asia Cup campaign with a resounding nine-wicket victory over the UAE, bowling them out for just 57. Meanwhile, Pakistan cruised past Oman with a 93-run win, asserting their dominance in Group A.
India remains the most successful team in Asia Cup history, having lifted the trophy eight times across formats. They are also currently ranked No. 1 in the ICC Men’s T20I rankings. In contrast, Pakistan sits at No. 7 in the T20I rankings but remains a formidable force, with two Asia Cup titles to their name. Under the leadership of Salman Ali Agha, the Green Shirts will be aiming to secure a third title.
The T20I rivalry between India and Pakistan has always captured global attention. Out of 13 T20I meetings, India have dominated the head-to-head with nine victories, while Pakistan have won three matches. One match ended in a no-result.
Pakistan’s most recent T20I win over India came in the 2022 Asia Cup, also held in Dubai, making this upcoming clash even more significant.
Across all Asia Cup editions (ODI and T20I combined), the two teams have met 19 times. India have won 10 matches, Pakistan have emerged victorious on six occasions, while three encounters were abandoned due to weather or other conditions.
