The first Test match between Australia and Bangladesh is scheduled to be played from August 13 at the Marrara Cricket Ground (MCG 2) in Darwin.
Ahead of the match, <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/sports/cricket/photo/aus-vs-ban-tests-mitchell-starc-on-cusp-of-surpassing-kapil-dev-dale-steyn-for-these-two-records-in-format-history-112372/1" rel="nofollow">Australia's star pacer Mitchell Starc</a> is just falling short of one wicket from surpassing the legendary Team India all-rounder Kapil Dev on the list of players with the most wickets in the format's history.
Speaking about the prospect of being able to surpass Dev, the Australian said that it would be humbling to be part of the elite list.
"It means I've played a bit. It is cool and very humbling to be spoken about it with those guys. But that stuff doesn't mean a whole lot while you're still playing. You don't get too far ahead," he told the Australian Associated Press.
Currently, he has a total of 433 wickets to his name in the format's history. He is just one wicket shy of surpassing <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/sports/cricket/article/kapil-dev-asks-fans-to-celebrate-rohit-sharmas-career-amid-retirement-rumours-23640410" rel="nofollow">legendary Team India all-rounder Kapil Dev</a> on the list. Dev concluded his Test career with 434 wickets.
<h2>Mitchell Starc eyes another milestone</h2>
The Australian quick could also climb the rankings among pace bowlers. Seven wickets across the two Tests would take him to 440 career wickets, moving him beyond South African legend Dale Steyn's 439 and into fifth place among the highest wicket-taking fast bowlers in Test history.
Only <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/sports/cricket/article/james-anderson-turns-43-here-is-everything-you-need-to-know-about-his-illustrious-career%C2%A0-23587212" rel="nofollow">James Anderson</a> (704), Stuart Broad (604), Glenn McGrath (563) and Courtney Walsh (519) would remain ahead of him on the pacer's list.
The second Test match between Australia and Bangladesh is scheduled to be played from August 22 at the Great Barrier Reef Arena in the Queensland city of Mackay.
