The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) signed a landmark jersey sponsorship deal with Apollo Tyres following the exit of Dream11 from the role, reported news agency PTI. This comes amid Team India’s ongoing participation in the Asia Cup 2025, where the side is currently playing without a jersey sponsor.

Confirming the development, a senior BCCI source said, "The deal has been signed with Apollo Tyres. We will announce it soon."

The sponsorship void was created after the Indian government implemented the Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Act, 2025, which banned real money gaming platforms, including Dream11.

The legislation states: "No person shall offer any, aid, abet, induce, indulge, engage in offering online money gaming services nor shall involve in any advertisement which directly or indirectly promotes any person to play any online money game." This led Dream11 to shut down its real money gaming operations, making it ineligible to continue its association with the national cricket team.

Apollo Tyres, a multinational company headquartered in Gurugram, has manufacturing facilities in both India and Europe. According to sources, the BCCI has signed a three-year deal with the company worth Rs 576 crore, which is a significant increase from the previous Rs 358 crore deal with Dream11, which also spanned three years. The new sponsorship covers 121 bilateral matches and 21 International Cricket Council (ICC) fixtures.

The BCCI had earlier issued an invitation to express interest in acquiring the team’s lead sponsorship rights after the ban came into effect. It also confirmed that there would be no jersey sponsor during the ongoing Asia Cup 2025.

Meanwhile, on the field, India have officially qualified for the Super 4 stage of the Asia Cup 2025, following a dominant display by the United Arab Emirates (UAE), who secured their first win of the tournament with a convincing win over Oman on Monday. Led by Suryakumar Yadav, India had already secured emphatic wins against both Pakistan and the UAE earlier in the group stage and will conclude their group-stage campaign with a match against Oman on September 19.

The UAE, on the other hand, will now face Pakistan on Wednesday in a must-win encounter that could decide their fate in the race to the Super 4 stage. Their path to Super 4 will also depend on the outcome of India’s final group match against Oman.

Earlier in the tournament, both Oman and UAE suffered defeats in their opening matches, losing to Pakistan and India, respectively.
