The Eden Gardens is gearing up for a golden reception for batting maestro Sachin Tendulkar, who recently became the first player in the history of the game to score hundred international centuries.
The Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) along with the West Bengal government have planned a felicitation function for Tendulkar on May 12, before the start of the IPL-V match between Kolkata Knight Riders and Mumbai Indians.
Tendulkar will be presented 100 gold coins besides a golden bat and ball at the function. He will also be showered with flowers from a helicopter. “We are doing this now because this is the first time Sachin will be visiting Kolkata after scoring his 100th ton (in Dhaka on March 17).
