&gt;&gt;&nbsp;Chandu Borde played 55 Tests with 3061 runs and 52 wickets to his name.
&gt;&gt;&nbsp;He scored 12,805 runs and took 331 wickets in first-class career wihch spans 20 years.
&gt;&gt;&nbsp;Borde scored 1,604 first-class runs in one calendar year which is a record in Indian cricket.
&gt;&gt;&nbsp;Borde was born in Pune in a Marathi-Christian family. He has five brothers and five sisters.
&gt;&gt;&nbsp;During his maiden call up to the Test team during the tour to Pakistan in 1954 he did not play in Tests but averaged 50 with a high score of 99 runs in 6 tour games.
&gt;&gt;&nbsp;Borde considers Vijay Hazare his idol and also shared the dressing room with him once.
&gt;&gt;&nbsp;In 1962 when Nari Contractor was hit by a bouncer during a tour game in West Indies, Borde was one of the first people to rush to him and offer help. Borde did one better again and also donated blood to his teammate.
&gt;&gt;&nbsp;Borde captained the team in just one Test match where he scored 69 runs in the first innings.
&gt;&gt; Borde has since been a Chairman of national selectors.
