Sourav Ganguly's emotional reaction on his match-winning innings (88) against defending champions Deccan Chargers on Thursday was not directed at Kolkata Knight Riders' co-owner Shah Rukh Khan, the former India captain told SUNDAYu00a0 MiD DAY. "Everybody thinks that the chest-thumping was for Shah Rukh. That was not an indication for him... no... never," clarified Ganguly as KKR trained to take on Kings XI Punjab. Shah Rukh Khan said on Twitter after Knight Riders' defeat to Delhi on Monday: "Time for excuses is over. Either we play better or keep being deserving losers." Ganguly said he understood Shah Rukh's concerns. "I know he is under pressure too. After all, he has to organise funds from sponsors. If we don't play well, he will face problems. "Also, his image will be damaged. Our performance over the years has not been great sou00a0 it's natural for a team owner to be worried," the skipper said. Ganguly admitted his mistake of not opening the innings in earlier matches. "I made a mistake. I should have opened from the first match itself because this position is meant for me in this format of the game," he said. There is a chance of New Zealander Brendon McCullum playing today. The former KKR captain joined the team after the home series against Australia. Punjab are in the throes of adversity with only one win to show. It's Shah Rukh's upbeat team vs Preity Zinta's deflated outfit. Conquering Ganguly's men in their den won't come without a splendid effort from Kumar Sangakkara's team. It will also be interesting to see if Yuvraj Singh can get a big score. The India batting star is under tremendous pressure to perform after a string of low scores.
