Virender Sehwag created history ten years ago on this day when he became only the second cricketer to score a double century in ODIs - the first being Sachin Tendulkar. Sehwag, however, passed Tendulkar to score 219 runs to set a record for the highest ODI score at the time during a match against West Indies. En route to his 219, he hit 41 boundaries and 7 sixes. Since then Sehwag's record was surpassed by another Indian cricketer - Rohit Sharma.

Rohit Sharma holds the record for the highest individual score in ODIs with 264. He remains the only cricketer in history to have scored 3 double centuries in ODIs. In the list of double hundreds in ODIs, there are three Indian cricketers. Chris Gayle and Martin Guptill both achieved this feat at the 2015 World Cup and are the first cricketers from New Zealand and West Indies to enter the record books. Fakhar Zaman became the first Pakistan cricketer to score a double ton in ODIs.
