He was reportedly thrown out of the premises for allegedly misbehaving with women guests. <img alt="" src="http://images.mid-day.com/2013/mar/ricky.jpg" style="width: 400px; height: 335px;" /> January 1999 Ponting was suspended by the Australian Cricket Board after a punch-up in a Sydney bar left him unconscious and with a black eye. He later told reporters that he couldn&rsquo;t recollect what had happened but assured he would work on solving his drinking problem. &ldquo;On occasions, I have drunk too much and got myself into situations I don&rsquo;t intend to be in, but I&rsquo;ve ended up in them,&rdquo; Ponting later said. Chris Cairns - February 2003 <img alt="" src="http://images.mid-day.com/2013/mar/cairns.jpg" style="width: 400px; height: 368px;" /> New Zealand&rsquo;s cricketers were allegedly involved in a brawl outside a nightclub in Durban on the sidelines of the World Cup. All-rounder Chris Cairns was said to have been felled by a punch and suffered a cut across his mouth even as other players were shoved around. Security guards accompanying the team whisked the players away to safety. David Hookes - January 2004 <img alt="" src="http://images.mid-day.com/2013/mar/david-hookes.jpg" style="width: 400px; height: 349px;" /> Former Australia batsman David Hookes died after suffering head injuries in a fight outside a Melbourne pub. The 48-year-old, who played 23 Tests from 1977-86, was coach of Victoria and was drinking with his players after their win over South Australia in a one-day game. He allegedly got into a fight with one of the pub&rsquo;s bouncers. He was later revived by paramedics but never regained consciousness. Andrew Symonds - November 2006 <img alt="" src="http://images.mid-day.com/2013/mar/symonds.jpg" style="width: 400px; height: 364px;" /> Australia all-rounder Andrew Symonds admitted to suffering from stress-related issues after it was reported that he was engaged in a drunken brawl with one of the patrons at a Brisbane bar who wanted to click a picture with him. Symonds was at the pub celebrating Australia&rsquo;s 149-run win over New Zealand in the first Test earlier in the day. Cricket Australia however, later cleared Symonds following an investigation into the matter. Indian cricketers - July 2010 India cricketers Yuvraj Singh, Zaheer Khan, Piyush Chawla, Ravindra Jadeja, Rohit Sharma and Ashish Nehra were served show cause notices by the BCCI following reports of a bar brawl in St Lucia after India&rsquo;s exit from the World Twenty20 in the West Indies. <img alt="" src="http://images.mid-day.com/2013/mar/indians.jpg" style="width: 400px; height: 320px;" /> In a statement later to BCCI, Jadeja said: &ldquo;I had gone to the restaurant (pub) for dinner along with other Indian team members. Some guests, which I presume were of Indian origin from USA, had also come there and started abusing us.&rdquo; Though Nehra later denied the incident, team manager Ranjib Biswal admitted &ldquo;there was an argument because the boys, who went there (to the pub) for dinner, were harassed by some Indian fans.&rdquo; u00a0

New Zealand all-rounder Jesse Ryder, who was beaten up outside a bar in Christchurch on Thursday is in hospital in critical condition having suffered a fractured skull and serious internal injuries. Ryder was reportedly attacked by two or three people as he stepped out of the bar.
