Former India wicketkeeper and current commentator Dinesh Karthik offered clarity on a viral video involving Royal Challengers Bengaluru batter Jitesh Sharma, who was seen being denied entry at Lord’s during the ongoing third Test between India and England. The video, which drew attention on social media, was captioned “Lord’s security guard didn’t allow Jitesh Sharma to enter the stadium. This is so embarrassing."
However, Karthik, who is part of the official commentary panel for the series, clarified that the incident did not occur at the stadium’s main gate, as many assumed, but rather near the media centre entrance.
"These are some issues with social media that a lot face,” Karthik wrote on social media, adding, "I invited jitesh to the comm box , he had come , and I came and met him down and took him to the comm box and he met everyone there. Btw this is below the media center , not the entrance to the ground."

Karthik’s response helped dispel the notion that Sharma had been disrespected or intentionally barred from entering the venue.
Sharma, who has represented India in nine T20 Internationals so far, is yet to earn his Test cap. He has scored 100 runs at an average of 14.28 and a blistering strike rate of 147.05. His highest T20I score of 35 came against Australia in Raipur in December 2023. A reliable performer in the Indian Premier League, Sharma has been on the radar for national selection across formats.
The incident unfolded on the sidelines of what turned out to be a gripping Test match at Lord’s. England secured a dramatic 22-run win, one of the narrowest victories by runs ever recorded at the iconic venue. Chasing a modest target of 193, India came close but ultimately fell short, bowled out for 170. The final blow was delivered by young spinner Shoaib Bashir, who dismissed Mohammed Siraj to clinch the match.
Ben Stokes was named Player of the Match for his crucial contributions with both bat and ball, playing a pivotal role in England’s win.
With the series now tilted 2-1 in England’s favour, India will look to bounce back in the fourth Test, which begins on July 23 at Emirates Old Trafford in Manchester. The team will aim to level the series and set up a potential decider in the final Test.
