The decision was taken at the MCA managing committee meeting recently. “Dr DY Patil Stadium will hold the Mumbai-Gujarat Ranji match this season,” said MCA’s joint honorary secretary Dr PV Shetty.

Vijay Patil, the brainchild behind the state-of-the-art stadium, welcomed MCA’s move. “It has taken a while, but I am happy. We have always been wanting official cricket to come to DY Patil Stadium and are happy that first-class cricketers can now avail the world-class facilities at our stadium.

It’s not only a good development for the venue, but it is also great for fans in Navi Mumbai, who can now watch qualityu00a0cricket here,” said Patil, who is also the vice-president of the MCA.u00a0Incidentally, the venue was awarded the 2009 India vs Australia ODI, but rain washed out the tie.u00a0
