Tennis ace Leander Paes believes if there is one Indian, who can win the accolades in tennis that he has won so far in a career spanning nearly two decades, it is 23-year-old Somdev Devvarman.
Paes told MiD DAY: "I've seen Som ever since he was 12 in Chennai. He was very tenacious and offered a lot of promise. I'm glad that he is finally delivering the goods."
"I'd love to see Som reach the semis here (the best performance by an Indian) like I did in 1998 or better still break my Davis Cup record (the highest win-loss record for India 83 to 31) or win an Olympic medal. And with the hardwork and ethics that Som has, I'm sure he can achieve it," added Paes yesterday after he and partner Lukas Dlouhy were upset 4-6, 2-6 (7-10) by Bjorn Phau and Rainer Schuettler in Chennai.
