As former England captain Eoin Morgan celebrates his 39th birthday, it's the perfect time to reflect on some of the remarkable records he etched into international cricket history.
One of Morgan’s most iconic achievements came in the One-Day International (ODI) format, where he holds the record for the most sixes by an English player. Over the course of his illustrious career, the left-handed batter featured in 225 ODIs for England, during which he blasted 202 sixes.

He also holds the distinction of being the only England skipper to record over 100 wins across formats.
The former left-handed batter also holds the record for the most sixes in a single ODI innings. During a match against Afghanistan in the 2019 Cricket World Cup, Morgan smashed 17 sixes and four boundaries, scoring a breathtaking 148 runs off just 71 deliveries, which remains one of the most explosive in World Cup history.
Over the course of his international career, Morgan played 248 ODIs, 115 T20Is, and 16 Test matches for England. In Tests, he accumulated 700 runs, including two centuries and three half-centuries.
In the 50-over format, he was a prolific run-scorer, amassing 7,701 runs with the help of 14 centuries and 47 fifties. In T20Is, Morgan scored 2,458 runs, which included 14 half-centuries, making him one of England’s most reliable middle-order batters in the shortest format.
Beyond the international stage, Morgan enjoyed a successful domestic and franchise career. He scored 5,042 runs in 102 first-class matches, with a highest score of *209 (not out)**, including 11 centuries and 24 fifties.
In List A cricket, Morgan featured in 378 matches, tallying 11,559 runs with 22 centuries and 67 half-centuries. His best score in this format is 161.
In T20s overall (domestic + international), he played 374 matches, scoring 7,780 runs and registering 38 half-centuries.
One of the crowning moments of his career came in the 2019 ICC ODI World Cup, where under his captaincy, England finished third in the group stage, winning six out of nine matches and losing three. Morgan then led England to a historic World Cup title, defeating New Zealand in a dramatic final at Lord's.
The final ended in a tie and went to a Super Over, where England edged out New Zealand on the boundary count rule. Ben Stokes was named Player of the Match for his all-round performance. He bowled three economical overs for just 20 runs, scored an unbeaten 84, and added eight runs in the Super Over.
