Ex-Kerala skipper Balan Pandit dead

Former Kerala captain and junior national selector M Balan Pandit passed away at his residence in Koonammavu, Ernakulam yesterday.

The funeral will be held today at 2 pm at the residence. A product of King George School in Bombay, he worked with BEST for some time. Balan Pandit played for Kathiawar and saw from close quarters BB Nimbalkar’s huge score of 443.u00a0

Narain Tamhane who donned the gloves for India was Balan’s understudy during his Bombay years. He served as a member of the national junior selection committee and chairman of Kerala senior selection panel and also served as the vice president of Kerala Cricket Association.u00a0
