An Australian fan, who had brought his eight-year-old son Mark to watch Sachin Tendulkar bat in the nets, said: "My son is more fond of Tendulkar than Ricky Ponting or Mike Hussey so I wanted to show him how he bats in the nets. I was hoping to watch him up close."

Some Indian fans who had taken leave to watch the Indian team practice were left fuming. "Not only have the team let us down in Melbourne, but now they don't have any respect for us. It was a waste," a fan rued. It is not known who took the decision to have the closed nets session.
