By the start of next season, Jeff Thomson, the fastest bowler in the world in the 1970s, could be in Mumbai heading a bowling scheme financed by a well known corporate and laced with the blessings of the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA).

mid-day learns that a sports management company has sounded out MCA president Sharad Pawar recently on a plan for a bowling scheme similar to the Bombay Cricket Association-Mafatlal Bowling Scheme headed by former England fast bowler Frank Tyson which helped Mumbai regain their hold on the Ranji Trophy after eight unyielding seasons in the 1990s.
