A Chris Gayle blitz carried Kolkata Knight Riders to their first win in the second edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL), beating Kings XI Punjab by 11 runs via Duckworth and Lewis method in a rain-affected match at Kingsmead here Tuesday.

Chasing 159, Knight Riders were 79 for one in 9.2 overs before rain interrupted the proceedings for the third time. Gayle, who sprinted to 44 off 26 balls, and Brad Hodge (10) were at the crease when unabated rain swept the ground.
