Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell has officially announced his retirement from international cricket, bringing an end to an extraordinary 14-year career representing Australia. The 38-year-old made his final appearance for his nation in February, during the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026 against Oman, where he took two wickets but did not bat.
Speaking on The Final Word podcast, Maxwell said he decided after open discussions with Australian team management before and after the T20 World Cup 2026. He noted that the conversations were transparent and free of external pressure, with the selectors focused on transitioning toward younger talent.
