South Africa's swashbuckling batsman Heinrich Klaasen announced his retirement from international cricket. The 33-year-old shared a post on his official social media handle which read, "It is a sad day for me as I announce that I have decided to step away from international cricket..."

Klaasen was a premier player for Sunrisers Hyderabad in the ongoing IPL 2025. In 13 matches, the right-hander amassed 487 runs with a best score of an unbeaten 105 runs. He also had a century and a half-century to his name. However, SRH finished in sixth position with six wins and seven losses with a net run rate (NRR) of -0.241 and 13 points.
Coming to his international career, Heinrich represented South Africa in about four Tests, 60 One-Dayers and 58 T20I matches. Having played 60 ODIs, the swashbuckling right-hander smashed 2,141 runs, including four centuries and 11 half-centuries.
In the shortest format of the game, the 33-year-old garnered 1,000 runs with five half-centuries. The Pretoria-born announced his Test retirement in the previous year. Having represented Proteas in four longest format matches, he managed to score 104 runs.
Earlier in the day, Australia's premier all-rounder Glenn Maxwell announced his retirement from One-Day Internationals (ODIs).
While speaking on a 'Final Word Podcast', the all-rounder stated that he conducted a chat with George Bailey and stated that he won't be available for the ODI World Cup 2027.
"We talked about the 2027 World Cup and I said to him 'I don't think I am going to make that, it's time to start planning for people in my position to have a crack at it and make the position their own'," said Maxwell.
He also stated that, considering his body condition, the 36-year-old felt he was letting the team down.
"I felt like I was letting the team down a little bit with how body was reacting to the conditions. I had a good chat with (Chair of Selectors) George Bailey and I asked him what his thoughts were going forward," he added.
