Anaya Bangar, child of former India batting coach Sanjay Bangar, recently shared her experience of training alongside Indian cricket icon Virat Kohli.

Sanjay, a former international cricketer with 12 Test and 15 ODI appearances for India, has been closely associated with several elite players during his coaching tenure, including Kohli.

Speaking in an interview with Filmygyan, Anaya revealed that she has had multiple opportunities to train with Kohli, often under the guidance of her father. She recalled how Kohli not only watched her bat but also offered valuable insights that left a lasting impression.

“Yes, I’ve met him multiple times and trained with him, alongside my dad as well. He’s given me a few tips, watched me bat, and I’ve had the chance to see him bat up close,” Anaya said.

She also shared a memorable interaction in which she asked Kohli about his mental approach to high-pressure situations. “I once asked him how he handles pressure at the highest level. He told me that he practices to a point where he fully understands his strengths and trusts them. He knows exactly what he can do on the field, and he simply believes in that,” she added.

“Once you truly know yourself and your game, everything else falls into place,” Anaya concluded.

Anaya, who garnered attention last year for documenting her hormonal transformation journey, continues to make strides in cricket. She posted a video on social media on Wednesday showcasing her batting skills.

In the video, she demonstrated strong front-foot technique, confident defense, and a series of polished straight drives. Captioning the video, she wrote, “Just letting you guys know that I have something huge coming up!”

Meanwhile, Kohli himself made headlines earlier this week with the announcement of his retirement from Test cricket. He brought down curtains on a storied red-ball career, finishing as India’s fourth-highest run-scorer in the format. He made his Test debut in 2011 against the West Indies in Kingston, Jamaica, and played his final Test in the New Year’s clash against Australia at the Sydney Cricket Ground earlier this year.

Kohli, who stepped away from T20Is last year, now represents India solely in One-Day Internationals. He is also gearing up to return for Royal Challengers Bengaluru as the Indian Premier League resumes on May 17.
