England skipper Alastair Cook created cricket history on Monday by&nbsp;becoming the youngest player and first Englishman to score 10,000 Test runs. In the process, he broke Sachin Tendulkar's record set in 2005.

Alastair Cook was born on Christmas Day -- December 25, 1984 in Gloucester, England.
He is called "Chef" in the England team for his culinary skills.
Cook was a promising musician as sing and play three instruments. He can play the clarinet, saxophone and piano. And even after making his England debut, he recorded a saxophone solo for the BBC children's animated series Freefonix.
Cook is an accomplised singer and has sung with famous New Zealand opera singer Dame Kiri Te Kanawa.
Former England player, Derek Randall is Cook's cricket mentor.
Cook led the England under-19 squad during the ICC Under-19 World Cup 2004 in Bangladesh.
Cook once took the wickets of AB de Villuiers and JP Duminy... at the under-19 level. In an under-19 Test against South Africa in 2003, he dismissed ABD and Duminy.
His first Test wicket was Indian pacer Ishant Sharma, who was caught behind off his bowling in a Test at Trent Bridge on July 2014.
He is now the youngest batsman to reach the 10000-Tet run mark. He beat cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar's record of 31 years, 10 months and 20 days, which has stood since 2005.
Cook is the 12th player in history to 10,000 runs, and only the second opener after India's Sunil Gavaskar.
He surpassed England legend Graham Gooch's tally of 8,900 Test runs at Headingley in May 2015 to become England's leading run-scorer.
He is the first Englishman to score 10,000 Test runs.
He has scored 28 Test hundreds - a record for an Englishman.
Cook made a century on debut against India in 2006 -- an unbeaten 104 at Nagpur, but was ruled out of the next match because of illness. He has not missed a Test since.
Scored 766 runs in seven innings during the 2010-2011 Ashes tour, to help England to their first series win in Australia for 24 years.
His highest Test score till date is 294 against India in 2011.
He was named as International Cricket Council&rsquo;s Test Cricketer of the Year in 2011.
In 2010, he scored 235 not out in Brisbane vs Auustralia in a Test. Cook's 10-and-a-half hour stay at the crease saw him go past Sir Don Bradman's 226 to record the highest score at the Gabba.
Scored his 23rd century against India in 2012 to become the highest test-century maker for England.
He is youngest cricketer to pass the 7,000-run mark in Tests.
He was named one of Wisden&rsquo;s Cricketer of the Year in 2012.
