Indian wicketkeeper-batsman Ishan Kishan has surged to the summit of the shortest format, claiming the world number one spot in the latest ICC Men's T20I batting rankings and pushing fellow countryman and opening partner Abhishek Sharma down to second. 

Kishan reached a new career-best rating to overtake Abhishek right after the conclusion of India's two-match T20I assignment against Ireland in Belfast. Although India swept the series 2-0, neither of the top-order batsmen found explosive form in Northern Ireland.
