Sydney: Sourav Ganguly, captain of the Indian team that lost the 2003 World Cup final to Australia in Johannesburg, had no doubts whatsoever that current skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni should continue playing and leading the side in limited overs cricket.

After the 95-run loss to Australia here yesterday, Dhoni said that he would take a call on his leadership tenure after next year's World Twenty20.

"Why should he retire? He is still the No 1 batsman as far as the one-day team is concerned. He is only 33, fit enough and importantly, India's most successful captain.
His decision to retire from Test cricket last year is a personal one and we should respect it, but if you ask me, he should carry on. He is a special captain and there is no reason why he should not continue to lead India," said Ganguly.
