<p>Cape Cobras captain Justin Kemp, a hard-hitting all-rounder, who played 85 ODIs and four Tests for South Africa, has lashed out at the rebel Indian Cricket League (ICL) for effectively ruining his career.<br /><br />  <table style="width: 94px; height: 42px" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0" width="94" align="right" border="1">  <tbody>  <tr>  <td><img alt="" src="/imagedata/2011/jan/Kemp.jpg" border="0" /></td></tr>  <tr>  <td>  <p align="center"><span style="font-size: 8pt">Justin Kemp</span></p></td></tr></tbody></table>Kemp was at his peak when he migrated to ICL for the big bucks. Ironically however, he claims he never got paid. "Yes, it's true. I never got paid. I wasted two years of my career," an emotional Kemp, who was training with the Cobras here at Newlands, told MiD DAY.<br /><br />"It feels nice to be back (to the domestic setup in SA). ICL didn't work out the way I thought it would. A lot of players put their international careers on hold, and messed it up, big time. In hindsight, it was the wrong thing to do," added Kemp. <br /><br />Asked if he had himself to blame for the decision, Kemp said: "Some legendary cricketers made a lot of promises which were never kept. There were so many assurances given. It is laughable that we never got our remuneration. If I could turn back time, I would have never played there."<br /><br />Kemp hoped ICL would pave the way for him to play for SA. "People said ICL would eventually become legal, and that my international career would reopen," he said. <br /><br />Last year, Kemp joined the Chennai Super Kings for the Indian Premier League (IPL) and also played the Champions League T20. "It was awesome being a part of them. I'm hoping to return the IPL IV. I've put my name for the auction," he said.</p>
