Delhi Capitals, who have had an up and down ride this IPL season, clash with Chennai Super Kings at the DY Patil Stadium on Sunday.

Delhi are somewhere in the middle of the points table, creeping their way up slowly towards a play-off spot, with a tally of 10 points from as many games.

Chennai have recovered from a disastrous start and have won two out of their last four games. They have six points from 10 matches, still occupying the second last spot on the table.

Delhi are yet to put together two wins on the trot and the game against Chennai offers them another chance to put this record straight.

Delhi Capitals’ assistant coach Pravin Amre said that the toss is crucial because of the dew factor. “I think the toss will be crucial in our next game because of the dew factor. However, the long boundaries in the stadium could be an advantage for our spinners, especially Kuldeep Yadav who is in great form at the moment,” Amre said on the eve of the match.

Delhi enter the match with confidence boosted after David Warner hit a typically belligerent 58-ball unbeaten 92 in their 21-run victory against Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Rovman Powell once again showed his might as a power-hitter in the end phase of the innings by slamming six sixes and three fours in his 45-ball 67 not out.

The duo’s unbroken century stand helped Delhi post 207 for 3 which proved insurmountable for SRH, who finished at 186 for 8, their victory charge halted by a fine bowling stint by Delhi’s left-arm speedster Khaleel Ahmed (3 for 30).

Anrich Nortje too did his bit in his first game of the season and he adds the extra yard of pace to their bowling arsenal.

Pant would be wishing for an encore against Chennai, who lost their last game against Royal Challengers Bangalore.
